As for the gradle issues, mind posting your build.gradle file as well as stating your Java version (im assuming your attempting to build from API 7 currently … if not then please state your Sponge API target)

While it is possible to build sponge from github, it can get very confusing to a beginner, so I would recommend just downloading it
