Launching Sponge in Ubuntu VPS - Error - HELP

I am currently trying to create a server on my 1.18 Ubuntu VPS and I can successfully launch a normal vanilla mc server but when I tried to bring over the fully functioning server from my windows PC to the server through WinSCP and launched it I got this error:

so I thought to just recreate the forge/server files through the command line and no luck when I try to launch the forge-universal after installing it with the forge-installer. I’m very new to linux but am a quick learner. I have no clue why I cant launch this, can anybody lead me in the right direction on how to fix my issue?

My java version:
openjdk version “11.0.3” 2019-04-16
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 11.0.3+7-Ubuntu-1ubuntu218.04.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.0.3+7-Ubuntu-1ubuntu218.04.1, mixed

thank you, with some research i found out how to install java 8 and it mostly works now. it runs but im getting a netty error now that will kick people while they are join in my server (it can even crash their game…) :confused:

One possible fix is to try setting use-native-transport to the opposite of what it is in server.properties
