Sponge and how well it will run

What will happen with sponge and how well it will run? Spigot ran better then bukkit which came before spigot. Will Sponge run at the best possible like what spigot did to bukkit? Will we get it right the first time with sponge? I hope so because I see sponge as an improvement to our past modding projects. Will we see some general Minecraft optimizations to the vanilla Minecraft server SpongeVanilla is built off of? Please excuse any errors I have in this post.

Yes, there are already some optimizations available in both implementations: SpongeForge and SpongeVanilla. Of course, at the moment, the focus is API implementation, but we will be including performance patches (all patches are configurable, so if you don’t want a patch, you can easily disable it). Remember that SpongeForge/Vanilla are still in alpha, so there may be bugs and most certainly there will be parts of the API not implemented.
