Switching from Bukkit

Hey guys,
I used Bukkit for a home server with just a few people on at any given time. Now that Bukkit is apparently close to dead, Sponge seems like a great alternative. I’m just a bit confused about what role Sponge will be taking over from the Bukkit hierarchy and how I can migrate my server over, if possible. Thanks for the help!

Sponge is not released yet, so migrating is impossible.
