About Pore

is pore usable? if so, where can i get it and what version is it for?

Pore is not in a usable state and quite honestly might never be due to the drastic design differences between Bukkit’s API and our API.

if only you guys just made sponge’s coding similar to bukkit so we wouldnt have to wait for ppl to even be in the mood to redo their plugins.

wow… This is probably the fault of the devs.

Lol, you guys are missing the whole point of this new API under a new license. Sponge isn’t even the same thing as Bukkit. Sponge supports vanilla as well as forge and other mods. This whole idea of waiting for devs to redo their plugin irrelevant because spigot still supports Bukkit plugins. Plugins for the Sponge API are related but different compared to Bukkit’s and trying to rush developers to remake their plugins is not a great idea, you guys should be happy with the current pace we’re on with a lot of major plugins already ported and other that aren’t ported likely have a Sponge alternative.

Bukkit’s design worked for old versions of Minecraft. This was before they had complicated stuff like item metadata, and command blocks, and shields, and JSON messages, and a whole lot of other stuff. Bukkit can still technically work, but Sponge is designed for new versions like 1.8 and 1.9, and is very flexible.

On top of that, Cauldron is just a clusterfuck. But Sponge is designed to have a layer of abstraction across everything, and it works with mods well because of this.

No, just no, Chaos. The whole point of a new (incompatible) API is that you can change the design and avoid mistakes made in the past. What’s the point of a new API if it’s a clone of Bukkit? Then we could’ve based our work directly on Bukkit.

Also: Sponge has some features Bukkit probably won’t ever support AND Sponge has mod support, which was quite hacky in past approaches of Bukkit+Forge.

well i guess ur right.

I have personally tested Pore and its turning out. This was a few months ago so I bet a few fixes have been patched. It works nice and I am planning on doing a few more tries with more plugins. I think Pore will be a good plugin for many users coming from bukkit. Give it the time it needs. If the plugin dev has come this far to do this I bet he won’t give up unless it really is impossible no matter how hacky he got. Only maybe a few bukkit plugins may work but it still may help.
