Any reason SpongeVanilla moves at a much slower pace?

Seems SpongeForge goes at a much quicker development pace.

Depends on what you mean. SpongeVanilla updates around the same rate as SpongeCommon - new features, new bugfixes, new optimizations, etc. SpongeForge updates more quickly because Forge updates more quickly; there needs to be a new SpongeForge build for every few Forge builds. Actual updates happen at the same rate for both platforms.

Well the majority of changes are made in SpongeCommon which affects both, SpongeForge just needs more updates due to it being a more complex system, and there often being problems with specific mods or an update to Forge. Most of the users of Sponge are utilizing SpongeForge it seems as well. All new features and optimizations are generally added in Common though so don’t be too worried about it.

Sponge Vanilla seems a lot slower then it really is. Generally most of the updates happen to SpongeForge + SpongeCommon (due to mod incompatibilties mainly) and periodically if they seem stable, and affect SpongeVanilla someone will bring the changes over, which can bring many changes in 1 update.

This causes the build number of Sponge Vanilla to be much lower, this doesn’t mean that it’s significantly out of date though, it might only be a few days, or only changes that affect mods.

Occasionally changes are made and tested on Sponge Common and Sponge Vanilla, and Sponge Forge gets them the next time it bumps Sponge Common.

tldr; It’s never far out of date, and mod incompatibilities create a lot of builds of Sponge Forge that are used in testing.
