I need an API 7 plugin where you have an item named “Backpack” and when you right click with it it will open an inventory the size of a normal chest.

SpongyBackpacks will not work as I need it to be a item so I can do Optifine/MCPatcher custom item textures.

I do not need a custom crafting recipe (is it still not possible with the API?)

Custom Recipes are implemented for quite a while now.

If you’re using sponge forge just use a mod, there are a lot of mods that do that
