In this intermission
We discuss permission
The pitfall of so many Owners
Is it False or True?
-1, 0, 1, 2?
Myriad options are shown us
System default false
Quickens the pulse
As the console root is denied
Whatever keys of PEx

Outside of a block, a book is a man’s best friend.
Inside a block, it’s too dark to read. - Groucho FLARD
Inside a Block
Worlds present opportunities
Inspiring creative communities
Myriad players soon at ease
With the lay of the land
Hidden in every block
May lie secrets to unlock
Read the history of a rock
See its future being sand
But there is room for more
For every block may store
A long litany of lore
Concealed in it’s data
So when you next explore
And a dirt block in the floor
Recites Star Wars Episode IV
Ponder the sanity of it’s creator

Something important was destined to go here, but right now, I’m hungry…
Hungry Sponge
To feed this hungry beast
We need Food implemented
A very complicated feast
Largely made of PITA bread
The fate of Sponge is at steak
And the pie is ever humble
It should be a piece of Cake
The way the cookie crumbles

It’s all incompatible with Optifine
iPhone is unsettable
Milk starts smelling terrible
Frogs rain by the bucketfull
Reality is incompatible with Optifine
Totally indigestable
Surely not a vegetable
Flavour quite regrettable

“Everything is Changing; Everything is Changed.” - Big Weird Thing, Stannard Ridgway
Sponge- The Epic: Part 35.123
Odd noises emerge from inside Sponge hive
Continuing change proves the beast is alive
Data emerged from its second cocoon
To be joined by event refactoring soon
Plugins inflating the nascent State
With economies, jobs, and real estate
Teleport perks and titles galore
Groups, kits, elevators and more
We follow along on the commons and forum
Doing whatever we think is good for 'em
Making good use of the things that we find
Emergent creations from Sponge’s hive-mind

The hunter tracks its many prey
Gauging how far each is away
Comparing all to best advantage
Stealing every better vantage
Pathing through the tall Spongewood
The hashing scheme of Robin Hood
Optimising search and store
Robbing the rich, leaving the poor

Drafty in here, isn’t it?
A challenge with writing Sponge’s Docs
Sometimes when devs dump data to write
Changes can follow with no end in sight
Much like Minecraft’s endless blocks
They see new things that may need changing
Bugfixes, patches, refactorings galore
Optimisations, minimisations, and more
Then documentation needs re-arranging
Whilst this may all seem frustrating
Nevertheless this helps development
Ensuring all the kinks are un-bent
Making sure it will be worth the waiting

Tantalisin’ flavours, be it rhyme or reason.
If ye calls the API appalling
Get ye ready for some swift keelhauling
No room for slackers in this show
Knuckle down there sailors, row!

Celebrate the Sponge Anniversary with a cake or two. Here’s my favourite recipe, put to rhyme
A simple and delicious cake with a sugary cinnamon crust.
Streusel Recipe
Soften or melt 125 grams of butter
Mix vigorously with 0.75 cups of sugar
Until fluffy and beaten through
Next, mix in a pair of beaten eggs
Half a teaspoon of vanilla essence
And half a cup of milk too
Add 250g self-raising flour and fold in
Pour it into a greased 10-inch cake tin
Then get a coffee cup to make crumble in
Mixing together 1 tablespoon softened butter
2 tablespoons each of plain flour and sugar
And 2-4 teaspoons of cinnamon.
The result should be like sticky breadcrumbs
Sprinkle evenly over the level mix as it comes
Finally, cook 45 minutes at 180*C
Allow to cool before removing from the tin
Or serve hot with apple, maple syrup, and cream
You can add whatever fruits suit your fancy

After assisting O with some Physics problems, I continued my research in the Lab…
Thermodynamic Rule #-1
The universe tends to a state of disorder
The reasoning is not too hard
Diffusion expands the entropic border
Where everything turns to FLARD
Sponge’s expansion causes cooling
The Core growing adiabatically
Gibbs free energy knows no fooling
Chaos is inevitable, mathematically
Lost and all alone in the codebase, the stray typo cried “HEPL”
Error, Fix Thyself
Typos in your template
Can be hard to mitigate
Luckily we have the tools we need
The SpongeMassager will fix it
Squeeze it all together and mix it
Making for an entertaining read
Cobbling, patching, nerfing
Random code-style surfing
Novel ways of making more with less
It can even contain puns
It’s fine, as long as it runs
Let third party software fix the mess
When the test world literally exploded, I was absolutely delighted
One Thing or Another
When you want a WGen showstopper
Here is the easy way to hack it
Exchanging Blockstates with Swappa
In the Sponge Substitution Racket
Redstone trees with TNT leaves
Are simply a modest example
Populator threads it readily weaves
So upon your world they may trample
Lakes of FLARD and fiery grass
Deposits of cake, most tasty
Pistons for flowers, Lava for glass
Air made of barriers, for your safety
I was bitten once by a caveat. Nasty little beasts, they breed in dark corners.
Conception of Perception
When left becomes right and up is down
The world is whirling round and around
Every thing is new to dawning perception
Mysterious causes evading detection
Senses adjusting to the wild panorama
Gradually refining the sensory armour
Understanding our range of influence
Experimenting with points of confluence
Studying the macrocosm yields to the topic
Of examining events in the microscopic
Yet even if all is not infinitely divisible
Activities beyond this point are invisible
Thus we now rely on the realm of machines
Complex calculations to see what it all means
Consider this as their complexity evolves
What defines reality, each question they solve?
Welcome to yesterday. The universe has reached the elastic point and it all runs backwards from here.
The Case of the Upper
There once was a problem with Git
We fed a fresh doc into it
The result was crappy
Travis was not happy
The build.sh
ended in it
