Someone could simply copy the “S” image (yes, it is an image)…

I personally like the simplicity of a letter, I’d have one myself, but I don’t like the letter M… and I like blue hair more

All the avatars are rendered inside a circle. But even modifying the image wouldn’t prevent someone from copying it.
