I hold to the idea that if we can properly self regulate and not give reason to make the company step in they won’t. Gravity didn’t with ragnarok servers and they are a crazy korean company! The biggest issues is it’s a lots easier to host a minecraft server then a ragnarok one so more kids who don’t understand the importance of being kind and honest to there players host.
If we all do our part we can make sure that everyone stays honest and respectful of all peoples right to play the game as its base allows. That’s all we can do and hope M$ doesn’t step in.
I’ll rant about the ragnarok community all day but it mirrors the minecraft one really well it went down the bad path of becoming p2w nonsense when it became easier to host and I don’t want to see minecraft become moneycraft. Hostimg should be done because you love the game and want to allow others to enjoy the game. Happy player on a good server will bring donations and honest payment for services that need not strong arm you.
I don’t think Microsoft’s goal is to destroy Minecraft. They’re probably going to look at expanding and improving realms, but that’s really it. I feel like we’re all freaking out about the deal because there’s already a lot going on between Mojang and the plugin/modding community. I mean, if Microsoft bought Minecraft a year ago, would we be freaking out as much as we are now? Just a thought!
Overall, the community has definitely not died; and I can’t wait to see what becomes of this project.
All I have to say is stop living in the future or you’ll never enjoy the present.
Minecraft is a game. If it dies, it dies. There isn’t anything you can do about that. Right now it’s doing better than ever, so there’s no point in predicting its death.
I would argue that the sarcastic (and potently vulgar) nature of the topic was effective in relaying the intended message as stated by @MrMysteri0us . ; P
