Linux/Windows Dual Boot

i did this before and you shoulden’t have a problem as long as you install ubuntu on a seperate disk on windows, so when you install ubuntu just make sure you install it on a separate disk from windows

Nothing wrong with having them on the same disk, lol.

Hes probably confusing a disk with a partition.

I thought the same thing at first, but you’d be surprised at how many people believe that you can’t.

To be fair, back when people were trying to dual-boot Windows XP with a Linux system, it was… problematic. But it was workable, and hasn’t been an issue since, well, the person in question may have switched away from XP.

im not, im saying that installing it on a sepereate disk is safer then making a partition because if you make a partition then do something wrong when you install Ubuntu then you can screw up windows

Well, installing it on a completely separate disk is safer I guess, but it is not incredibly hard to install it side-by-side safely, ubuntu is very friendly to windows during the installation process and can do most of the partitioning and other setup automatically. Also, why would you have two hard drives in a normal desktop machine? If I were to spend the money on a totally new hard drive i would get a SSD, install all my OSs on it then use the old HDD to store files.

Are you calling me a noob?
EDIT: because I haven’t seen one capital letter in any of your posts.

If your new to this or you’ve never done it before then yes

Going here might change your stance on that.

Your complete lack of grammar pulls up red flags when detecting noobs.

How’s that related to dual-booting?

Magic<It is baloney.
