Microsoft buys Mojang

@Dragonisser True that.

Notch`s Answer > http://notch.net/2014/09/im-leaving-mojang/ - same reasons that the Flappy Bird Dev quit making Flappy Bird

Im afraid Notch will not do this xD

It’s already official.

Phew. I’m excited.

Im genuinely not bothered by this. If all goes well Microsoft may help minecraft, I certainly am no fan of the way Mojang developed minecraft after alpha.

In the event they do really ruin it, if minecraft dies. We will form something new or go somewhere else. I think the fall of bukkit and the formation of sponge has shown one thing, this community is not going down any time soon.

have fun with reading <3

Notch basically made the first version in a weekend, it would be rough, but imagine a 100% community built, mod oriented minecraft!

I’m not really sure what to think about this. If Microsoft actually allocates resources to Minecraft development, they could update the game at a speed that no server mod will be able to keep up with. Then again, there might not be a need for them if they actually pushed out the plugin API… which could be a good business move for their newly acquired company.

They do have the staff to kick bukkit back into life.

I personally have some mixed feelings about Microsoft, but I’ve tried to stay away from speculating what this means for us (the minecraft subreddit is a huge mess at this point). That being said, some stuff Microsoft has done I’ve had no problem with (even windows 8 wasn’t that bad in my opinion). I’m gonna be keeping a close eye on how things go from here on out though.

as long as they don’t buy out sponge devs under the table, I think everything is gonna be alright. :)

Lets not all jump to conclusions. Microsoft seem to acknologde that minecraft is only as sucessful as it is because of the community and the mods they bring to the game to help keep it alive.

Id like it to be pure mod based, everything, from basic world generation to dirt to space ships should all be possible with mods. The base game should just be empty space ready for modding.

i think why mojang did this is for the money 2.5 bilion dollars (i think) is so freaking much!??!

DONT DO THIS MOJANG ;(

It’s 2.5 bil, I totally understand them. Well whatever, I just really hope that the game won’t be ruined.
