Minecraft 1.9 Released!

The “Combat Update” has now officially been released. With new weapons, arrows, mobs, spawns, items, blocks, and features in the world of Minecraft, are you ready to take all of them on?

How will you handle the new content? Will you use it to take down others? Build an empire with your new found tech? Create a new world you control with your wishes? Combine stuff to create something new(er)?

Personally, I’ll be excitedly waiting for Sponge’s (and Forge’s) update, which I pity the devs of both for having to deal with.

Definitely build an empire though, imma finally kill the Ender Dragon.
Two hours later
I give up, this tree is too persistent.

As will I. I’ve always found this down-time good though. Gives us a chance to plan our attack!

What is dev-specific changelog of 1.9, what new features it brings for server plugins (and mods)? I know there is something about progress bars, customizable armor protection, and something about blockstates, but I don’t know all new features.

I’d bet a new Key for combat time or such.

I cannot wait to not have to upgrade plugins like with Forge and any mods (also with Forge)! Hahahaha! Take that, Minecraft!

There are many possibilities:

  • Item models (and textures) based on durability. Basically, take one useless tool (diamond hoe?), make in unbreakable (to hide durability bar), hide unbreakable -> lots of custom items be replacing one item
  • Wear any item in head and specify rendering specially for head slot… Combine with previous idea to get custom hats!
  • More attributes for items (armor, etc.)
  • Multiple boss bars -> multiple boss bar messages
  • Elytra, if you can control it from server side.
