Pickaxe - A Sponge plugin manager and unofficial Ore client

This is a discussion topic for the Ore project, Pickaxe. View the full project on Ore for downloads and more information.

Important Announcement

I am no longer going to be supporting Pickaxe after this version. Windy, the Ore developer, has released an official Ore client.

Pickaxe does not store any data. You can migrate to the official plugin via Pickaxe itself, although there may be problems when doing so.

  1. Type /pickaxe install ore.
  2. Type /pickaxe yes.
  3. Type /pickaxe uninstall pickaxe.
  4. Type /pickaxe yes.
  5. Restart the server.

If something goes wrong, delete Pickaxe from your mods folder and install the official plugin manually (see the link above). Thanks for using Pickaxe, and here’s to a great future with a standard, official Ore plugin!

Old description

Pickaxe

Pickaxe is a Sponge plugin manager and unofficial Ore client.

Commands

/pickaxe install <plugin>: <plugin> should be either the ID of a plugin or the Ore name (you can find it in the top-left corner of the project’s page on Ore; it looks like <owner>/<name>, e.g. JBYoshi/Pickaxe). You will need to restart the server to finish installing the plugin.

/pickaxe update [plugin...]: <plugin> is optional and can be repeated. It should be the same as in /pickaxe install. If not present, it will update all plugins. You will need to restart the server to finish updating the plugins.

/pickaxe uninstall <plugin>:
<plugin> should be the same as in /pickaxe install. You will need to restart the server to finish uninstalling the plugin.

To confirm any of the commands above, you will need to type /pickaxe yes.

/pickaxe status: Displays the changes that will be applied when the server restarts.

This seems like it’ll be very useful for many server owners! Good on you for making this!

Really interesting ! It will help server owners and promote the use of Ore.

Lol so a few months ago I spent a day writing a plugin called ‘Soak’ based on the original idea.

IMO an official package manager should be released by SpongePowered and I would be interested in making that happen.

The creator of Ore is working on an official Ore package manager, but this is kind of the only thing we have in the intervening time :stuck_out_tongue:
