Sponge Vanilla Version issue

Hi, I have recently tried changing my craftbukkit 1.7.2 server to a sponge vanilla 1.8.9 (latest version). Im running on OS X and have the latest version of java. I followed the instructions on migrating to sponge and everything seems to be fine with no crash reports. But when I try login using a 1.8.9 profile it tells me to use 1.7.9, and when i change to 1.7.9 the server kicks me. Is this a bug or have I done something wrong?, thanks!

Ehm, I think we are missing some information. Can you show use the log message of why the server kicked you?

You might have missed a step in the migration process. I see a “DIM”-number folder in the server directory. It should be in the world directory, but there is already one there (your world might be corrupt). There is an “EssentialsSpawn.jar”, which by the timestamp, looks like it might be from Bukkit. Also, a “mods” folder exists, are you trying to convert a modded Bukkit (Cauldron) server to Sponge? If so, you should use SpongeForge instead. A “plugins” folder exists, and here at Sponge we use a “mods” folder. Here is a link to the migration docs (for both modded bukkit and vanilla bukkit): link To help you further, we need a log. If you want to use BungeeCord you also need to use a recent BungeeCord build for 1.8, not one for 1.7. Otherwise just connect to your SpongeVanilla server directly instead of going through BungeeCord.

Ahh, I completely forgot about that, I guess il update my bungeecord so that the versions arent conflicting. Thanks alot!

Please could you advise me further because I am just these last few days migrating my Craftbukkit server to Sponge. So I use Bungeecord to link 5 servers (Hub,Creative,KitPvP,Minigames,Factions). You suggested going directly through SpongeVanilla so how does that work in joining them all together? We are also thinking to use SpongeForge with Creative & maybe Minigames & I read that both SpongeVanilla & Forge work together. Are you suggesting I remove Bungeecord & join all 5 servers with SpongeVanilla & Forge? Is it best that I just use SpongeForge for all the servers? I would appreciate your advice on this as I am at the beginning of migration. Many thanks Dylan.
