What programming languages do you know?

He said they are languages, and what defines a language is the syntax and formatting of words. These are more like dialects of data, but it’s nowhere near true that they aren’t some form of language. Just because you can’t execute it doesn’t make their syntax invalid.

What defines a language? A form of communication that has syntax.

  • Whatever the iOS language is called…
    Probably forgetting some…

In no order:

  • PHP (some, but I hate it with a passion). Used for our server’s website.
  • Python (some). Mainly used for most of my scripting.
  • Java (extensive). I hate this with a serious passion, but it’s a hate I’ve come to live with.

Pseudo-languages (also in no order):

  • HTML (mainly Bootstrap)
  • CSS/LESS
  • SQL

Would like to learn and use:

  • Go
  • C#. Mono really sucks, which is why I can’t use as much C# as I desire.

Java, Visual Basic, and HTML

Extensive Knowledge in;

Java
Python

I can work my way around;
C++
PHP
JavaScript
Lua

Indeed is harder to get into. I’ve not really understood where to begin, but once I get my mind set to it I’m a fast learner. That’ll come in handy for when I begin Java properly.

As I wrote on my profile:

Java c++ c html and javascript

ITT: People putting HTML but its a markup language not a programming language

  • PHP
  • CSS
  • JavaScript (jQuery)
  • Java
  • SQL

YAML is also isn’t a “language” strictly speaking, either, but I don’t think anyone minds that much. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ordered from most used to least:
JavaScript (&& coffeescript)
Ruby
Python
SQL
Java (&& Scala && Groovy)
Shell
C/C++
Haskell
Clojure

Of course I know how to use/parse all the standard data interchange formats (XML, JSON, YAML, etc), and the standard web tech (CSS, HTML)

I know enough PHP to function when I need too… but … ew.
I might look into Hack later

That’s why I made a statement about including markup and shell scripting.

Java and Go primarily. Did some Batch, BASIC and AHK way back. I’ve been meaning to learn C or C++ and Haskell or Lisp. I’ve also been looking into Elm recently as I can’t stand html, css or javascript.

In order of confidence

  • PHP
  • CSS
  • Javascript
  • Java
  • Python
  • C++(just started)

Java. HTML. SQL.
Couldn’t be bothered to learn anymore since I had no idea how to make actual programs with them other languages and gave up on C++ a year ago.
