What should we call Sponge mods?

Well, i am a fan of simplicity, and humor. How about Sponges?

How about thingymajigs, thingies, thingoes or thingymabobs?

“Modules” is a bad, bad idea. Most users think of a “mod” as a modification to their client. Having server “mods” is only going to cause server owners huge amounts of headaches in answering questions when people ask about “mods.” But, Spongins! i love it!

Not sure if this has been said already but I like the idea of “spores”.

I think we should call Sponge mods as pores.

“Pores” would not work. With the new plugin by @ShadyPotato coming out, it would just be confusing. :stuck_out_tongue: “Let’s download that Pore, Pore!”

I agree with the original proposal, however I am going to throw out some other ideas anyway.

Unit, element, component, item, facet, basically a very abstract hierarchy of synonyms for “part”.

We should call them all spongebobs.

While I like some of the creative suggestions such as Droplet or Spongelet, my preference would to be to stick to computing nomenclature and use plugin, extension, or addon.

I think “splugins” would be a very good name

I think the intention here is to differentiate plugins created for Sponge from items created for other server systems… and eventually the official MC API. It could help immensely to have a “Sponge-centric” name for them to make troubleshooting easier. “I can’t get this plugin to work.” “Did you download the spongelet?” “Oh, no… I downloaded the plugin.” “That’s and old bukkit plugin, you need to use the spongelet”

I suggest plugs

Let’s call them “cookies.”

Why not?

Sponge Cookies doesn’t really sound right.

splugins sound nice

Assuming that the devs are not just going to call plugins by that simple term or something similar such as module or addon then I think a simple but creative name would be fun and unique.

In keeping with the theme of sponges I really like the idea of calling plugins:

  • Droplet(s)
  • Pore(s)

Finally as much as I would like to stick to works that exist I do like splugin(s) :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m surprised no one tried “spods” yet.

Also, both plugins and modules already have an existing connotation in software development and it has nothing to do with Bukkit. But that’s probably been said before.

Originality is Key!

Spuglins! lol  Best name eva

I really like the idea of droplets.
